Traditionally held on July 3 and 4, the Stewartville Area Chamber of Commerce’s Summerfest celebration will expand to three days in 2016.
Stacy Hanson, co-chair of the Summerfest Street Dance, told the City Council last week that the Chamber plans to host the festivities on Saturday, July 2, Sunday, July 3 and Monday, July 4.
“We are proposing that we do three days this year instead of two, because the Fourth is on a Monday,” Hanson said. “We have a lot of families that make Stewartville their destination for the Fourth of July, so we wanted to occupy them for the whole weekend.”
The Street Dance, traditionally held on July 3, will be pushed back to July 2 this year because July 3 is a Sunday, Hanson said.
