Residents from northeast and southwest Stewartville are welcome to attend a public hearing about major street projects proposed for their neighborhoods in 2016.

The Stewartville City Council unanimously agreed last week to schedule the hearing to discuss plans to improve the 100 to 300 blocks of Fourth Street Northeast, Third Avenue Northeast and the water main loop from Fourth Street Northeast to Fifth Street Northeast.

The public hearing will be held as part of the City Council’s regular meeting at the Stewartville Fire Hall on Tuesday, Aug. 25 at 7 p.m.

The proposed project may also include improving the portion of Sixth Avenue Southwest that extends from Stewartville High School south to County Road 6.

If the City Council moves forward with the project, workers will reconstruct water mains, sub drains, sanitary sewer and curb and gutter and overlay the streets with bituminous material on Fourth Street Northeast, Third Avenue Northeast, Fifth Street Northeast and Sixth Avenue Southwest.
