A monument to honor Stewartville’s firefighters is taking shape along Main Street.
Steve Wolf, assistant chief of the Stewartville Fire Department, is pleased that the memorial is nearly finished.
“We never had any landscaping at the new station, so this will add some color and texture to the front of the building,” he said. “We wanted to honor our firefighters. Hopefully it will be something that people will stop and take a look at, and reflect on firefighters in general…”

Ryan Davis of Davis WoodScapes, Stewartville, works on landscaping at the firefighters monument near the Stewartville Fire Station last week. Davis said he expects to complete the landscaping portion of the work by Tuesday, July 18 or Wednesday, July 19. “I think it’s great,” he said of the monument. “I’m honored (the Fire Department) trusted me with a project that is going to be around for decades.”
