Wendy Meyerhofer has owned and operated Shear Perfection in Stewartville since 1988. The business originally opened at 102 N. Main Street before eventually relocating to its current location at 112 City Center in 1993.

Shear Perfection is a hair salon offering clients a variety of services such as haircuts, color, perms and tanning.  The salon is also one of the few that is able to do shampoo sets on rollers. Men, women and children of all ages are served at Shear Perfection.

Wendy is the only stylist at her salon, but she comes with an incredible amount of talent and expertise. She has been doing hair for 39 years following her completion of cosmetology studies at Winona Vo Tech.  “I got into this field because my friends were doing it and I like doing things with my hands,” Wendy explained.

While doing hair is her passion, Wendy can also be found spending time with her family working on some cute, creative crafts. Wendy and her daughters paint and style a variety of gourds that serve as inspired holiday (and everyday) décor. Wendy’s husband does some woodworking and creates beautiful products such as sleds, wooden snowflakes and more. Their family does sell some of these crafts at events such as Cranberry Fest and others at the Mayo Civic Center.

Wendy, who is a long-time resident of Stewartville, is originally from Rollingstone, MN.  She raised her children in Stewartville and all three (3) of them, and her two (2) grandchildren, currently still reside in town. “I love doing business in Stewartville because I love the people.” Wendy expressed. “They’re kind and I have never had a client that I don’t like!” In addition, Wendy cited that Stewartville is an excellent environment for families and has a great school system.

Her clients are supportive, too. Wendy noted that when she got started, her three (3) children (Amanda, Katie and Kim) frequently spent evenings at the salon because her husband, Gary, worked nights. “I remember a gentleman who was getting his hair done and he let my daughter tie his shoes together to keep her busy,” Wendy shared.

Wendy’s dedication to her clients and business is evident. She emphasized that if people could know one thing about her and Shear Perfection she would want it to be that “[she] would always do [her] best to make sure to give them exactly what they want.”

Shear Perfection is open from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Friday. Wendy accepts walk-ins and appointments!
